Here are some things you do not want to do when you are starting out. By the way I learned the hard way.
(1) Don’t start buying e-books. Everyone has an e-book that will save the day for us if we will only pony up. It is always the one e-book that will be life changing for you. Read it and you will be all set for life just as soon as you apply what they tell you.
Have you ever noticed how they always have a secret the gurus do not want you to know but they are going to reveal it to you in this book? Why? Because they are tired of seeing people get ripped off. And it is always a secret the gurus have begged them not to reveal. Oh, yes, do not forget that if you do not buy today they cannot guarantee the price tomorrow for it is always going to be going up in the near future. They have slashed the price for just now. Don’t fall for this stuff. There will be a time to buy but it is not when you are starting out.
(2) Don’t do PPC, no adwords. PPC with adwords is like throwing your money down a rat’s hole. You are just taking money from your family and giving it away if that is where you start out in affiliate marketing. Only the very knowledgeable with a lot of experience and with expensive tools and the know how to use them are going to make money with PPC.
Here is a secret few will tell you. Most of these gurus have a staff helping them. Successful PPC marketing today requires a good amount of technical knowledge in web design and set up. It also requires some great copyrighting skills, keyword research skills, and research marketing skills none of which you have if you are starting out.
(3) Learn bum marketing techniques and use them only when starting out. Don’t know what bum marketing is? Do a google search using bum marketing as your keyword and start reading everything you can on the topic from the search results. Basically it is learning how to promote your affiliate program or product using only free methods.
(4) Only join up with an affiliate marketing company where even if you never make any money you will still have profited from being a part of the company. Percentage wise there are not a lot of companies out there like that. Ask yourself what is in this for me if I never make a penny? Will I have been better off for having been a part of this program.
If you do these things your success cannot be guaranteed but it is certain loss can be avoided and there will be no regrets.
